OLS Product Evaluation, Purchase, and Implementation


Evaluation: Before deciding to invest in an OLS Product, our potential clients need to determine:
  1. Fit: Determine if the OLS Product meets your needs: You can review the Product Information and talk to OLS personnel about how the functions and features meet your objectives.
  2. View: See a Demonstration of the OLS Product: OLS can show you a detailed demonstration using pcAnywhere either over the Internet or phone line. If you don't have a copy of pcAnywhere, you can download a trial copy from http://www.symantec.com/pcanywhere/Consumer/index.htm, or OLS can send you our traveling copy on CD.
  3. Interfaces: How does the OLS Product interact with your existing Systems:
    • For CommTrans, the output is an Application File that feeds into your Order Entry or other system, and the possible electronic interface of your Customer and/or Salesman Master Files with the Other Party Master.
    • For Call/OLS, the Customer Master File or a copy is needed, as well as a method of calling your Order Entry. Call/OLS interfaces to the OLS Systems for Wholesale Druggists.
  4. Modifications: What other needs do you require that are not included in the OLS Product: In most cases, there are very minor or no modifications.


Purchase: You need to approve the OLS Licensing Agreement and Supplement for the OLS Product. Included in the Supplement are Support Hours that OLS will provide to assist you in the OLS Product implementation, and any additional charges for modifications or extra support. For CommTrans, the cost of the Discriminators and Modems for interface between the telephone line and the AS/400 Communication Line can be included.

If you pay an Evaluation Fee, OLS can provide the OLS Product on a trial basis, including a defined no. of Support Hours. If you decide to use the OLS Product in production after implementing the OLS Product on a test basis, you can obtain an License by paying the difference between the Licensing Fee and the Evaluation Fee.

Implementation: In order to successfully implement the OLS Product, convert from your present systems, and continue to integrate new functions, we believe it is essential for you to provide a strong project manager who knows your business and AS/400 operations and programming expertise. Programming expertise may be developed in-house or outsourced (OLS can also provide programming resources at additional charge). This implementation model will put your company in charge of your computer system. It will allow you to tailor the OLS Systems to meet your needs today and to respond to your needs in the future.

To assure a smooth installation, we work closely with you to provide training, technical advice, design, program modifications, and general implementation support. An installation plan, jointly developed, is the key to a successful conversion. This plan may include a phased implementation that allows you to install in stages. This allows your personnel to absorb the changes more gradually and it greatly reduces the impact on your Customers.
